It has been a while since Matonya dropped a catchy song. In 2007 he swept East Africans off their feet with Vaileti which gained massive airplay for months due to it’s creativity and uniqueness. This song still remains as one of the best throwback songs done by a Tanzanian artiste.
But after it’s sucess, the singer failed to keep the songs coming and ended up losing touch with his fans. However it happens and no one can force creativity if it’s not there.
Anyway, apart from music Matonya is a loving family man with an adorable son. I recently bumped into a couple of the boy’s photos and must admit that he is pretty good looking. Matonya is not afraid to show off his family unlike most cheeky artistes.
